Spanish beef

  1. Pre-heat the oven to 120°C fan. Brown the beef in a couple of batches in the oil in a hot casserole, removing to a plate once done.

    Time: 10 minutes.

  2. Turn down the heat to medium and place the pepper, chorizo, garlic and spices in the casserole and fry for 3 minutes or so. Then add the tomato purée, chopped tomatoes, beans and the water. Return the beef to the pan with any juices and season. Bring up to simmering point and pop in the oven for at least 2 hours.

    Time: 125 minutes.
